Frequently Asked Questions
In order to better inform our customers, we’ve prepared a comprehensive list of common questions that we receive on a daily basis, and their answers. If you don’t see your particular question on the list, don’t hesitate to contact us either via our phone number: (724) 202-7376 or email: reddotrange@gmail.com.
Q: Can I make reservations to use the range?
A: No, the range is only available on a first come, first serve basis. If you arrive and the range is full, you must wait until a lane becomes available.
Q: How much does it cost to shoot there?
A: That’s a pretty difficult question to answer, given all the variables in our pricing. Please see the “Lane Prices” section of our Range and Rentals page to review our rates.
Q: What are the age restrictions?
A: You must be at least 12 years of age to be on Red Dot Training Range’s premises.
You must be at least 16 years of age and accompanied by someone who is 18 years or older to use the range. Please note that our insurance does not allow anybody under the age of 12 in our building.
Q: Do you sell guns?
A: Yes. Our inventory can be found under the Inventory tab at the top of this page.
Q: Do you purchase guns?
A: Yes, we do purchase guns, however, the decision to buy your gun is at the sole discretion of our staff. Due to our limited space, if your firearm is deemed unsuitable for our clientele or if it does not present an opportunity to profit, we reserve to pass on the purchase.
Q: How much is ammunition?
A: Like most things in life, the price varies by brand and caliber. Please be more specific.
Q: What firearms can I shoot there?
A: You can shoot nearly any firearm and caliber, from .22 pistols to high caliber rifles and even shotguns. Use of incendiary or tracer ammunition is not allowed, nor is bird-shot in shotguns. Please note that we do not allow pistol grip only shotguns, nor do we allow similar firearms such as AR/AK pistols to be fired without the use of a brace, etc. Sighted fire only.
NOTICE REGARDING CALIBER RESTRICTIONS: Due to township noise ordinances, we’re currently limited to allowing .223/5.56 and below on our range (7.62X39 is also allowed and shotgun still allowed). That means no full-power rifle cartridges like .308, .30-06, etc., for the time being. We appreciate your understanding while we work within these restrictions.
Q: Do I need to buy your ammo, or can I bring my own?
A: The only time we require you to use our ammo is if you are renting one of our guns.
Q: Can I bring my own targets?
A: No, you must purchase targets from us.
Q: What are your hours?
A: Hours are found both on our Google business page, as well as the bottom of our website. Any exceptions to these hours will be noted in the banner at the top of the site.
Q: Do you sell gift cards?
A: Yes, you can purchase a gift card in-store for any amount. The gift card can be applied to the purchase of firearms, accessories or range services such as range time, ammo and training. Note that usage towards firearms is subject to background check approval.
Q: Can you do firearm transfers for private sales?
A: Yes, we facilitate pistol transfers for private sales between eligible PA residents. In PA, private sales of long guns do not require transfers.
